What is it like experiencing this pandemic and isolation while being a full-time student?

There are both PROS and CONS when thinking about my final term being forced to be online ONLY.

CONS:

  1. Personally, I have found this transition from face-to-face classes to online very overwhelming at times. I am taking 2 online courses, and they seem to be going well.

  2. The hardest part has been the studying for tests. Normally 4 of us get together and study for our "Green Revolution" tests and we have not been able to do so. We have tried via FaceTime but it has not been as effective.

  3. As for my degree program, we are in the final stages of our "Capstone" projects which are in groups of 4 or more. This has become extremely difficult to write papers and complete data collections without face-to-face contact. I am spending 10+ hours a day on my computer attempting to work with my group online.

PROS:

  1. I commute to Fanshawe Tuesday-Friday, for a total for 2 hours of driving each day. I have been able to save a lot of money on gas recently!

  2. As a part-time job I clean houses and buildings. This is still to date considered a "essential service", therefore, I have been able to work a lot more than normal.

  3. SPRING CLEANING: my partner and I are building a house in Collingwood, so we have been able to do packing, and spring cleaning.

Linkage to "GLBC-7012- Green Revolution" Course:

The Coronavirus and it's effect on us, the environment and politics is huge right now. There are constant press conferences held by Mr. Trudeau, Mr. Ford and Trump (just kidding about Trump, he's in denial) regarding constant new information and next steps.

In my opinion this specific situation can be linked to the content in the "Week 1 Module". Throughout the lecture it is discussed what the impact of environment awareness has on culture, society and politics. This is when I start to think about the first case of the Coronavirus:

  1.  Why was the bat eaten in the first place?

  2. Is this culturally normal?

  3. What was the bat exposed to causing this disease to flourish?
